Currently in Progress: AR/VR/360 Pop-up Lab

For the 2018-2019 year, the Discovery Lab focus will be on augmented reality, virtual reality, and 360 degree video. This is a temporary effort to gather data to see how AR/VR can support experiential learning, research, and other pedagogical and curricular goals. We are approaching this pop-up as an experiment, combining people, technology, resources, and space to see what emerges.

Those new to AR/VR/360 can come to the lab to experience the technology, while those familiar with it and working on projects that have cleared the intake process may book lab space to work in. See our schedule for details about the variety of activities we are currently booking in this space.

We currently have an HTC Vive Pro, an Oculus Rift, a Hololens, three VR-ready development computers, and monitors for screening the action. We will also be circulating five Samsung Gear 360 cameras through the ITS Service Desk.
