2-Factor Authentication, or 2FA, is an added layer of security for your Northeastern accounts and information. 2FA requires users to authenticate their identity through a separate method, typically through the Duo mobile application, text message or by phone call, in order to gain access to their accounts.

To register your landline phone go to the 2-factor authentication registration page and log in with your myNortheastern username and password.

You will see the start-up screen. Click Start setup.

During this process you will be asked to select a device. This device is the one where you will be contacted with authentication requests.

NOTE: ITS recommends you install Duo Mobile on your device. It is fast and easy, works in any country, and doesn’t require cell service. Without the Duo Mobile app, you can still log in using a phone call or text message.

Select your country and type in the phone number of the device you will use to receive messages. Click Continue.

Choose the device operating system and click Continue.

To install the app, follow the platform-specific instructions.

After installing the app, return to the enrollment window and click “I have Duo Mobile installed.”

You must then activate the app to link it to your account and use it for authentication.

Next you will need to choose how you would like to be notified.

Answer the call and follow the instructions to authenticate.

For more information go to the DUO Enrollment Guide.
