After you have installed the GlobalProtect VPN client on an ITS-managed computer, or an unmanaged or personal computer, you will find a new icon for the GlobalProtect client – a globe – in the system tray for both Windows 7 and Windows 8.x. When connected, the globe will have a shield. When disconnected, the shield will be replaced with a red X.

Other locations:

  • Windows 7 – Start > All Programs > Palo Alto Networks
  • Windows 8.x – Start typing GlobalProtect from the Start screen, or go to Start > Apps > Palo Alto Networks

NOTE: Click to enlarge images.

The first time you run the GlobalProtect client, you will be prompted to fill out the screen with the following information:

  • Username: NUnet username (Your NUnet username is the one you enter when you log on to a network computer.  You can sync your NUnet and myNortheastern usernames and passwords by going to myNortheastern, clicking on myProfile and following the directions for changing your password.  Once you have done that your username and password will be the same for both NUnet and myNortheastern.)
  • Password: NUnet password
  • Portal: (do not include https://)

Once the VPN is connected, you will get a welcome window. You can click “Do not display this page again” in the bottom right corner to keep from seeing this every time you connect, and then close the window.

setup globalprotect win 02

To disconnect, right-click on the icon in the system tray and select Disconnect.
