Cole W. Camplese serves as the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer at Northeastern University. In this role, he oversees Information Technology Services and the many services that support the needs of the educational, research, administrative activities, and innovative endeavors of the University. As Chief Information Officer, Camplese is charged with the creation of strategic IT initiatives that align with the University’s mission, culture, and long-term goals. He works closely across the campus community with the Provost, Deans, students, faculty, and staff to deliver programs and services that enhance teaching, learning, research, and student experiences.

Information About Departments

Office of Information Security
The Office of Information Security is the central university resource for advice, recommendations and actions necessary to protect and preserve information assets and privacy of the Northeastern community. The office enforces IT-related policies and practices, and coordinates the activities and resources of all departments within the university who share responsibility for protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of institutional data and data processing capabilities.
Academic Technology Services (ATS)
Academic Technology Services (ATS) is responsible for providing and managing university-wide software, tools and services that support teaching and learning, along with customized solutions and options based on the need of individual colleges, departments or faculty. ATS provides consultation to help faculty understand the functionality and application of specific technologies, and promotes technology that supports teaching and learning. The group also provides strategic direction to academia and ITS by researching, testing and recommending new tools and technologies, and responds to and provides support to all academic technology issues and requests escalated through the Service Desk.
Business Intelligence and Analytics
The Business Intelligence and Analytics team works on a variety of projects and initiatives encompassing all enterprise applications, including enterprise reporting and analytics.
Enterprise Application Development (EAD)
Enterprise Application Development (EAD) is responsible for the architecture, design, development and integration of services offered to various constituencies of the Northeastern community. These services include integration development, quality assurance and release management, enterprise database administration, and enterprise reporting and business intelligence.

Project & Service Management Office (PSMO)
The Project & Service Management Office (PSMO) is responsible for the coordination and management of technology-related resources to ensure the successful implementation of major ITS projects. The team works with university staff to define, manage and implement complex projects across the academic enterprise, including providing communication about those offerings. The team is also responsible for facilitating the project prioritization process, which is used to align the ITS project portfolio with the strategic goals of the university.
Customer Services
Customer Services is the Northeastern community’s primary point of reference with the world of ITS. Comprised of the InfoCommons, Digital Media Commons, Service Desk, Audio Visual Support, ResNet and other open-access university labs, Customer Services is dedicated to increasing the productivity and satisfaction of faculty, staff and students using information technology. The group’s mission is to provide an outstanding customer experience through efficient and effective responses to the university community’s technology questions and issues.
Digital Technology and Services
The Digital Technology and Services team is responsible for developing and enhancing Northeastern’s digital business assets and products. The team partners with both business and academic areas to plan, develop and manage technology services in support of Northeastern’s digital footprint. The services include strategic planning, web and mobile app development and consultation, website/web application administration, and web accessibility support.
Finance & Administration
The Finance & Administration group serves as a support mechanism for ITS. The group provides fiscal management for each internal business unit; develops and enforces consistent operational policy and procedures for daily business functions; enhances each business unit with the appropriate administrative support; and serves as the internal liaisons with central university business areas and external vendors for daily business operations. Finance & Administration also provides contract management, oversees enterprise application licensing for more than 200 software packages, oversees departmental physical space planning, and coordinates departmental recruitment services.
