As part of the university’s initiative to protect your data and privacy, we have partnered with IBM’s Mobile Device Management (MDM) team to provide Northeastern employees with a simple, secure solution to your mobile security concerns — MaaS360.

What is MaaS360?

MaaS360 is a mobile device management application intended to secure and protect the data and personal information on your mobile device (e.g. cell phone or tablet).

When Will This Happen?

ITS has already enrolled nearly 200 university employees in a pilot program to test MaaS360 and ensure this is the best solution for our university staff members.

We will continue enrolling departments in MaaS360, alongside our Multi-Factor Authentication service, Duo, and roll out the service department by department in the months ahead.

Will This Impact Me?

All full-time, benefits-eligible Northeastern staff members will need to enroll in MaaS360 if you wish to access your email on your mobile device’s native email client. Users will still be able to use the Outlook Web Application (OWA) to access their Northeastern email.

For University-Owned Devices: You will be required to enroll in MaaS360 if you use a northeastern-owned device.

For Personal Devices: MaaS360 is optional for employees using a personal device.If you choose not to enroll your personal device in MaaS360, you will no longer be able to access your Northeastern email from your mobile device’s native email client.

NOTE: At this time, Faculty members are not required to enroll in MaaS360.

What If I Lose My Phone?

If you have lost or misplaced your company-issued mobile phone, please contact the ITS Service Desk immediately for assistance at 617.373.4357.
