In our continuing effort to better secure you and your information, Northeastern ITS will soon expand our Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) platform to include Microsoft Office 365 (O365) services.

All faculty and staff members seeking to access any O365 web services, including SharePoint and the Outlook web application (OWA), will be required to authenticate using our service provider, Duo, in the coming weeks. MFA will also be required for the Outlook desktop clients. We recommend that all faculty and staff members upgrade to the latest version of Microsoft Outlook on their computers.

How-To upgrade to Outlook 2016:

For Managed Machines:

  • Microsoft Office 2016 comes standard in the latest ITS image. To upgrade to Office 2016, contact the ITS Service Desk to schedule a reimage (More Info: MAC or Windows).
  • As an alternative to re-imaging your machine, ITS staff can also upgrade your Office access through a ServiceNow request (Locally Installed Software Request).

For Non-Managed machines:

In the coming months, we will also be rolling out MFA for select Banner services to help cover all personal, HR and financial transactions.

We will continue expanding this program to help better combat escalating threats, such as phishing and information scams, to your personal information and the university community. MFA is a proven method to help inhibit such threats and better protect the members of our community.

How Do I Enroll in MFA?

All Northeastern Faculty and staff members should be enrolled in MFA. If you are not yet enrolled, please follow the simple process below.

Using MFA is fast and easy, and it adds a second layer of security to all of your Northeastern accounts and information. You can access this increased security by enrolling in Northeastern’s Multi-Factor Authentication program.

The URL for enrollment is: mfareg.northeastern.edu.

NOTE: You will only need to complete this registration process once per device.
