Passwords to the university’s enterprise systems are a vital part of securing access to university data. In order to better protect against an ever changing threat landscape, as well as updated security recommendations, ITS will be implementing a change in the complexity requirements for all faculty and staff passwords.

What are the new requirements?

Moving forward, all new passwords will be required to have a minimum of twelve (12) characters.

All other complexity requirements will remain the same, including meeting three of the following four items:

–        Lowercase character(s)

–        Uppercase character(s)

–        Number(s)

–        Special character(s)

Who will This Affect?

These improved requirements will be required for all new accounts and any existing accounts seeking to update a password.

As a reminder, passwords should not contain your NUID, first name, last name, username, or email address.

NOTE: If you use either the ePrint or Internet Native Banner (INB) services, please be aware that these services may not work if you select a password with a special character.
