Installing Symantec Endpoint Protection 12 for Mac OSX 10.7+

Step 1: Symantec 12.1.4 for Mac OSX requires a Mac desktop or laptop running Mac OS 10.7 (Lion) or higher with an Intel processor and a minimum of 2 GB of RAM. To find your system specifications, click on the Apple menu in the upper-left corner of the screen then choose About This Mac. Your computer’s information will be displayed.

Step 2: Log onto myNortheastern and go to “Services & Links” at the top of the page.

Step 3: Search for and select “Software Downloads” under “Study and Course Resources.”

Step 4: In the pop-up window, select “Symantec Antivirus V12 -Mac”. Click “Continue” once you’ve made your selection.

Step 5: Read and accept the license agreement.

Step 6: Read the “Installation Notes” and select “Download”.

Step 7: After downloading and extracting the ZIP file, double click the Symantec Endpoint Protection icon to begin the installation.

Step 8: Click Continue to run the program. You will need to restart your computer upon completion.

Step 9: Click Agree & Install.

Step 10: The Installer will inspect your system and install program files.

Step 11: Select Close & Restart and allow your system to restart.

Step 12: After restart, open Symantec Endpoint Protection.

Step 13: At the Symantec client screen, select LiveUpdate Now. This will download the latest virus definitions to ensure that your system is up-to-date.

Step 14: At the pop-up window, select Update Now. After the LiveUpdate updater finishes, the installation set-up has completed.
