How to Install Office 365

Step 1: Log into myNortheastern and click on the “Services & Links” at the top of the page. Search for and select “Access Office365 ProPlus” near the bottom of the page under “Tech Marketplace for Students.”

Step 2: Log in using your Northeastern Microsoft Account. This is your myNortheastern username@northeastern.edu. The password is the same as your myNortheastern account

EX: if your email is doe.j@husky.neu.edu, your Microsoft account username is doe.j@northeastern.edu.
The password is the same one you use to log into myNortheastern.

Step 3: At the top right of the page, select “Install Office Apps,” then choose “Office 2016.” Wait for Office to download.

If you get any errors at this point saying that you do not have a Microsoft license and you are an active student who has finished first day of classes for your first semester, please call 617-373-4357 to report the error with your Microsoft account. If you are an active student but HAVE NOT had your first class yet, you may need to wait until your first class for your Microsoft license to activate. If you have questions about this, please call ResNet at 617-373-7967 or stop by our office.

Step 4: Wait for Office to install. This can take a while depending on how fast your computer is. Feel free to use your computer to do other things during this time but do not turn it off or disconnect it from the internet.

Step 5: Open any Office program such as Word

Step 6: Sign into your Microsoft account. If there is no pop-up window, this can be done by clicking on the link in the top right corner that says “Sign in” or by opening a new document, then clicking “File” and then “Account” and clicking on the “Sign In” button. Sign in using your Microsoft account, not your husky account (username@northeastern.edu, not username@husky.neu.edu)

Step 7: Activate office either in the next prompt after you sign in or by opening a new document, then clicking “File” and then “Account” and clicking on the “Activate Office” button.

NOTE: You may have to repeat steps 6&7 once per Office program to ensure that all programs are activated.
