ITS offers free web-based training on many popular applications and security awareness. This training is available to students, faculty and staff at anytime and anywhere you have access to the Internet.

Lynda.com Broad-Based Online Training

Students, faculty and staff can access online software training from Lynda.com from a browser on either a Windows or Mac computer, or on any mobile device. You can search for and watch specific content within a course, or watch and learn from an entire course – and you can pick up where you left off from any browser or device.

Some of the benefits of using the large library of free training modules:

And new for everyone since LinkedIn acquired Lynda.com in April 2015, if you complete an entire course online, you can add that to your LinkedIn profile.

Access

Sign in to Lynda Online Training  by going to lynda.neu.edu or from the link on the myNortheastern portal. Log on with your myNortheastern username and password.

You can also install the Lynda mobile app from their website or from the appropriate app store for your iOS or Android device.

To login to the mobile app:

  • Launch the Lynda.com app
  • Click Already a member
  • Click the organization tab > enter your myNortheastern Username and Password > For Web Portal enter the domain neu.edu and click Log in.

You will need to log in on the apps with your myNortheastern credentials.

When you leave the Northeastern, your free access to Lynda ends. However, if you choose to sign up for a personal subscription, you can maintain your course history by informing Lynda’s customer service that you wish to transfer your previous material to your new account.

Information Security Awareness Training

ITS provides a Blackboard course on information security awareness. In accordance with the Massachusetts data protection law that took effect March 2010, completion of this course is required of all individuals who may come into contact with Personal Identification Information (Pii).

Access

Access the Information Security Awareness Training course through “Courses” on Blackboard, which you can get to through the myNortheastern portal.

Mathematica Online Training

Mathematica is a computational software program used in many scientific, engineering, mathematical and computing fields. Training for Mathematica  software is available to students, faculty and staff. Get an overview of Mathematica, learn about new functionality, or study specific topics including data import and export, programming, visualizations, and numerics by visiting http://www.wolfram.com/services/education/seminars/.


MATLAB Online Training

As part of the Northeastern University site license for MATLAB, all faculty, staff and students may access hands-on learning through MATLAB Academy at no extra cost. MATLAB Academy is an interactive, self-paced training environment for either new or existing users. SAS and JMP Pro Online Training

SAS (Statistical Analysis System) is a software suite for advanced analytics, business intelligence, data management, and predictive analytics. JMP Pro is a predictive analytics software that provides advanced algorithms for building, assessing and managing predictive models.Training for SAS software is available to students and faculty by creating a profile on in SAS Online E-learning for All – go to the Knowledge Base for the solution (you may need to sign in with your myNortheastern username and password).
