Video Conferencing with Recording

Northeastern Information Technology Services provides video conferencing through BlueJeans.

BlueJeans is a cloud-based video conferencing and content-sharing service that offers interoperability with multiple platforms. Using BlueJeans, you can meet, share content, chat or record a session using an in-room conferencing system, a Windows or Mac desktop or laptop browser, or an iOS or Android mobile device. Recordings must comply with the university’s policies around BlueJeans recordings. You may store recorded content for up to one year and share the recordings with others.

This service allows you to collaborate via both audio and video with coworkers, vendors, and partners from around the globe by hosting guest speakers, conducting interviews, or participating in meetings or classes on or off-campus.


Faculty, staff and some selected sponsored account holders (lecturer, new hire faculty/staff, contractor, consultant, or graduate research assistant) may initiate a BlueJeans session. For access to Blue Jeans, go to Log in with your office 365 username []  and myNortheastern password. Beneath the login area, you will see the guidelines for recording a BlueJeans session. Whether or not you plan to record the session, become familiar with those guidelines to proceed. You may start an instant meeting or schedule a meeting. You do not need to log in to attend a meeting initiated by someone else.

Get Started

  • In a room with supported conferencing platforms (such as Polycom systems found in sites around Northeastern campuses) – Connect your laptop to the system and go to
  • On a Windows or Mac computer – Sign in to through your browser with your office 365 username []  and myNortheastern password, and use the built in web camera and microphone.
  • On an iOS or Android phone – Download the Blue Jeans app . To log in, you must go through your browser at, signing in using your office 365 username []  and myNortheastern password.

Other Audio and Video Collaboration Options

  • Blackboard Collaborate – The most popular use of Blackboard Collaborate is the web conferencing module which allows faculty and students to meet in an online space using video and/or audio chat, whiteboard features, slideshow features, and screen sharing features.
  • Microsoft Lync – Faculty and staff can use Microsoft Lync on and off campus for a range of collaboration activities, including AV/Web conferencing, whiteboarding, screen sharing, application sharing and file transfers.
