Time to Update Your Profile Information…Now Through Workday

It’s that time of the year when HR asks all employees to review and update personal and emergency contact information. It’s easy. Just log into Workday and select the person icon where you can review or edit as needed. Also, be sure to set your Phone Type to Mobile to receive emergency texts.

Manage Team Notifications

Take control of your Microsoft Teams notifications in the new year. Microsoft allows users to manage how, when, and where notifications appear. Custom settings are also available for channels and chat appearance, sounds, and even the ability to turn off specific messages. These features apply to desktop, iOS, and Android systems.

Connect to Tech

As the new term begins, refresh your knowledge and explore new technology available at Northeastern. Connect to Tech has the resources that help faculty, staff, and students get connected to technology that supports collaboration and innovation.

Integrate Teams Meetings in Canvas

The integration of Microsoft Teams and Canvas is here! Instructors can now create a Microsoft Team that syncs automatically with the enrollments in their Canvas course. This integration takes advantage of such Teams features as channel-based chat, file sharing, document collaboration, and a live-meeting application. The result is a robust, collaborative classroom community that supports learning both in and in-between class sessions.

Instructors who would like to use Teams for their class meeting experience without the more extensive collaboration hub can also easily create a Teams Meeting in Canvas using the integration.

Ensure Digital Flexibility with Canvas

To prepare a course that provides continuity of learning even when students are occasionally absent, make Canvas your course’s digital home base. Review the Canvas start-of-term checklist for step-by-step instructions to create a flexible course. Visit the Canvas faculty support page for resources, Canvas training, and more.

Improving University Systems to Support the Global Campus

The university is investing in primary systems to serve Northeastern’s global learners throughout the global network. The Global Campus System (GCS) Project, which culminated last month, led to key updates that now enable university systems to capture additional student demographic information, including citizenship status and race, among other relevant data points. That data captured is further distributed to over 22 downstream university systems, including Banner.
