Northeastern University is excited to announce that the recently released Claude 4, Anthropic’s latest advancement in AI technology, is now available to students, faculty, and staff. This new model brings enhanced capabilities that support the academic community in research, learning, and creative endeavors.
What’s new in Claude 4
Claude 4 comes in two variants designed for different needs:
- Claude Sonnet 4 offers smart, efficient performance for everyday tasks like writing assistance, coding help, and research support.
- Claude Opus 4 supports more demanding computational work and provides advanced reasoning capabilities ideal for complex research projects and data analysis.
The new models feature improved reasoning abilities, better code generation, and enhanced understanding of academic contexts. Students and faculty will find Claude 4 particularly helpful for literature reviews, technical documentation, and collaborative problem-solving.
Anthropic also announced that a beta version of Voice mode is available to mobile users. Voice mode allows you to converse with Claude on your iOS and Android devices. You can now speak to Claude and hear responses, making it easier to use Claude on the go.
