Colleagues,

Welcome to the first Tech Update of the fall! Tech Updates are sent periodically to share tech tips and convenient resources to help ensure you’re always supported at Northeastern.

This update includes, among other items, a summary of work that went into updating more than 150 different classrooms and spaces across the university global system this summer and a reminder about phishing emails.

IT support is available around the clock, every day, everywhere you are. Reach out to or visit ITS for all your technology questions and issues.

Wishing you a successful fall term!

ITS Collaborates with University Partners to Update Technology in Learning and Office Spaces

At Northeastern, the months between graduation and the fall term are the ideal time for classrooms and administrative offices to get a technology refresh. Among a range of summer projects, 51 classrooms across Northeastern campuses in Boston, London, and Oakland were modernized, becoming Global Learning Spaces

Resources for a Transformative Digital Learning Experience

For instructors teaching this fall, these resources on Canvas and integrated tools can help save time and create a transformative digital learning experience for students.

For additional teaching technology resources, search the Tech Service Portal or contact Canvas 24/7 support through the Canvas help menu.

Look Out for Phishing Emails

There is a lot going on in the hustle and bustle at the start of the new school year. Most of the emails you receive from Northeastern are legitimate, but sometimes a message you get from an @northeastern.edu address may come from a bad actor (and not the account owner!) who is exploiting a compromised account. If you receive a suspicious message that raises undue alarm or asks for personal information, forward the email to phishcatcher@northeastern.edu for investigation.

Program Assessment Support and AEFIS

Instructors in programs currently working on program assessment can leverage the grading they are already providing in Canvas to seamlessly assess course and program learning outcomes via AEFIS, Northeastern’s Assessment, Evaluation, Feedback, and Intervention System.

Ready to get started with AEFIS? Register for the upcoming AEFIS fall workshop series on the Institutional Assessment SharePoint site.

Microsoft Teams Tip

It’s likely that every desktop Teams user has clicked the forward and back buttons located beside the search bar in the top rail. But do you know how to quickly reveal your Teams history? Simply right-click on the back button, and a dropdown will list the last 10-plus pages you’ve visited.
