Northeastern celebrated Cybersecurity Awareness Month during October—here are some of the highlights! 

Monday, Oct. 17 
Data Destruction Day 

Thanks to your participation, Information Technology Services, the Office of Information Security, and vendor A1 Datashred were able to safely, securely, and sustainably destroy 391 hard drives on top of a truckload of old, data-bearing devices and paper files that were hauled away for secure disposal. Wednesday, Oct. 19 
Protect Your Privacy: A Discussion with Khoury Experts on the Challenges of Online Privacy 

Bruce Waterbury, from the Office of Information Security, hosted a panel with security experts Alan Mislove, Christo Wilson, Ada Lerner, David Choffnes, and John Clarke in a fascinating discussion about online privacy. Connect Carefully: A Discussion with Khoury Experts on the Privacy and Security of Internet Connected Devices 

Bruce Waterbury hosted a panel of experts including Guevara Noubir, Dennis Giese, Daniel Dubois, and John Clarke in a very insightful discussion about the security of connected devices including, yes, those smart speakers in your living room! Missed the event? Click here to stream the recording.
